Ross Whyte (Stirling, SCO) qualified for the 2021 GSOC Masters playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 4-2 against Bruce Mouat (Stirling, SCO).
Whyte finished 3-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Whyte lost 6-5 to Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL), then responded with a 8-6 win over Yannick Schwaller (Bern, SUI). Whyte won 6-3 against Yuta Matsumura (Kitami, JPN). Whyte went on to lose 6-4 against Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB). Whyte responded with a 5-4 win over Peter De Cruz (Geneve, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
Whyte earned 36.444 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the GSOC Masters. Whyte move up 3 spots after posting a net gain of 8.248 points improving upon their best 2 results so far this season, ranking 13th overall with 169.374 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Whyte ranks 9th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 68.634 points earned so far this season.
