Smith finished 5-2 in the 32 team DEKALB Superspiel qualifying round, held November 2 - 5, 2018 at the Morris Curling Club in Morris, Canada. In their opening game, Smith defeated JT Ryan (Winnipeg, MB) 8-1, then went on to lose 7-4 against Gunnlaugson. Smith responded with a 6-5 win over Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED). Smith won 8-0 against Braden Calvert (winnipeg, MB), then won 4-3 against Yannick Schwaller (Bern, SUI). Smith went on to lose 7-4 against Brett Walter (Winnipeg, MB). Smith responded with a 8-4 win over Kyle Foster (Arborg , MB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Smith earned 20.994 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the DEKALB Superspiel. Smith move up 16 spots after posting a net gain of 17.267 points improving upon their best 5 results so far this season, ranking 56th overall with 74.995 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
