Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) lost 8-4 to Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) in the Final of the Masters of Curling, held October 24 - 29, 2017 in Lloydminster, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, Edin won 4-2 over Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2017 Masters of Curling in Lloydminster, Alberta; and won 4-3 over Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 Masters of Curling in Lloydminster, Alberta;
 
Edin finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Edin defeated John Morris (Vernon, BC) 5-3, then won 6-2 against John Epping (Toronto, ON) and 8-4 against Jason Gunnlaugson (Winnipeg, MB). Edin went on to lose 6-2 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Masters of Curling, Edin take home 66.112 world rankings points along with the $18,000CDN prize, remaining in 2nd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 760.799 total points. Edin ranks 2nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 222.043 points earned so far this season.
