Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) lost 8-6 to Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) in the Final of the Masters of Curling, held October 28 - November 2, 2014 in Selkirk, Manitoba. To advance to the championship game, McEwen won 7-2 over Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, ON) in the semifinals of the 2014 Masters of Curling in Selkirk, Manitoba; and won 9-3 over Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) in the quarterfinals. of the 2014 Masters of Curling in Selkirk, Manitoba;
 
McEwen finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated David Murdoch (Stirling, SCO) 10-3, then won 4-3 against Sven Michel (Adelboden, SUI) and 6-3 against Peter De Cruz (Geneva, SUI). McEwen went on to lose 5-3 against John Morris (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Masters of Curling, McEwen take home 27.000 world rankings points along with the $15,500CDN prize, remaining in 2nd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 369.410 total points. McEwen ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 172.000 points earned so far this season.
