Peterman and Gallant Ready for Worlds

Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant (Photo: World Curling) kick off play at the 2025 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships April 26 in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Peterman and Gallant have the opportunity to represent Canada at the World Mixed Doubles Championships together for the fourth time in their careers beginning April 26.

The 20-team field is split in 2 pools of 10. Each team has nine games with the top 3 teams from each pool advancing to playoffs.

Team Canada begins play against Germany's Pia-Lisa Schoell and Joshua Sutor on April 26 at 9am AST. The Chestermere, Alberta pair then faces Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, Italy, Korea, Finland and China before finishing with a tough matchup against Scotland's Jennifer Dodds and reigning World Men's Champion Bruce Mouat.

"It's exactly where we want to be and it's why we play the sport," Gallant said in a recent interview. "It's why we love it so much is to play in these kind of big events (with) these pressure moments. So I'm excited to feel that. It's going to be pretty fun to experience that with (Jocelyn) again."

This will be the first time Peterman and Gallant compete together on a world stage since they got married in 2022 and welcomed their son Luke in 2023.

The event comes with added pressure as seven berths will be clinched for the 2026 Olympics in Cortina, Italy from the results of this World Championship combined with the 2024 World Playdowns where Colton and Kadriana Lott came fifth for Canada. Peterman and Gallant won the Canadian Mixed Doubles Olympic Qualifier earlier this year, earning them the right to wear the maple leaf in Italy should they be successful in securing Canada's spot this week.

Peterman and Gallant both competed in their first Olympics in 2022 with their respective four-person teams. Peterman and the Jones rink came fifth on the women's side while Gallant and team Gushue secured a bronze medal for Canada.

"It would mean everything to do it together," said Peterman in an interview with the Canadian Press.

Peterman and Gallant have been a mixed doubles power team for nearly a decade now. They have been to 3 world championships in 2016, 2019 and 2022. In 2019, the husband and wife duo brought home a silver medal for Canada, falling to Swedes Anna Hassleborg and Oskar Erikson by one point.

"I haven't won a world championship," said Peterman in an interview with CBC Sports. "I would love to be a world champion and kind of leave it all on the ice in that sense. We came up just short in 2019 and we would love nothing more than to stand on the top of that podium and hopefully send a message of what we're hoping to do next year."
