By Connor Simms, #3 World-Ranked Brad Jacobs, with Marc Kennedy at third, Brett Gallant and Ben Hebert on the front end, are coming off an impressive campaign in the 2024-2025 season. They kicked off their first season as a foursome last year. In their debut season together, they achieved a win at the Montana's Brier, a Bronze Medal at the Men's World Championships, and two second-place finishes at the Grand Slam of Curling event. They start this season as one of the favourites to win the Olympic Trials and represent Canada at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics. Although they are preparing to go back to the Olympics, Gallant has already secured his spot with Mixed Doubles partner Jocelyn Peterman. Jacobs aims to return after winning gold in the 2014 Sochi Olympics, while Hebert and Kennedy look to make a return after missing the playoffs in 2018 and winning gold in 2010. To begin, they are in Okotoks, Alberta, at the ATB Okotoks Classic. Last season at this event, they went 3-1 through the triple knockout round, qualifying on the B-side. In the quarterfinals, they ultimately lost to Switzerland's Michael Brunner 5-3. This is a 22-team triple knockout-style event with eight teams qualifying for the playoffs. Jacobs will have a bye in the first round due to being the top-ranked team in this event. They will take on the winner of Saskatchewan's Carl deConnick Smith and Alberta's Rob Johnson on Thursday at 2:30 pm Mountain Time.
