To advance to the championship game, Waddell won 4-3 over Marco Hoesli (Glarus, SUI) in the semifinals of the Swiss Cup Basel in Basel, Switzerland; and won 8-7 over Marc Muskatewitz (Fuessen, GER) in the quarterfinals. of the Swiss Cup Basel in Basel, Switzerland;
Waddell finished 4-2 in the 23-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Waddell defeated Sergio Vez (San Sebastian, ESP) 9-4, then won 5-4 against Wouter Gosgens (Zoetermeer, NED).
