Randy Ferbey (Edmonton, AB) won 8-3 over Rob Armitage (Red Deer, AB) in the Final of the Red Deer Curling Classic, held November 6 - 9, 2009 in Red Deer, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, Ferbey won 10-0 over Tyrel Griffith (Kelowna, BC) in the semifinals of the 2009 Red Deer Curling Classic in Red Deer, Alberta; and won 6-0 over Claudio Pescia (St. Galler, SUI) in the quarterfinals. of the 2009 Red Deer Curling Classic in Red Deer, Alberta;
Ferbey finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ferbey defeated Jamie Koe (Yellowknife, NT) 8-0, then won 5-3 against Dean Ross (Calgary, AB). Ferbey went on to lose 8-3 against Brad Heidt (Kindersley, SK). Ferbey responded with a 6-4 win over Brent Bawel (Calgary, AB). Ferbey won 7-2 against Ross in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Red Deer Curling Classic Championship title, Ferbey earned 22.160 world rankings points along with the $9,000CDN first prize cheque. For week of the event schedule, Ferbey did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Ferbey ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
