Elena Stern (Oberwallis, SUI) won 7-6 over Rachel Homan (Ottawa, ON) in the Final of the Canad Inns Women's Classic, held October 17 - 20, 2019 at the Portage Curling Club in Portage La Prairie, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Stern won 5-3 over Silvana Tirinzoni (Aarau, SUI) in the semifinals of the 2019 Canad Inns Women's Classic in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada; and won 8-6 over Eve Muirhead (Stirling, SCO) in the quarterfinals. of the 2019 Canad Inns Women's Classic in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada;
Stern finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Stern defeated Jennifer Clark-Rouire (Miami, MB) 9-6, then won 7-5 against Theresa Cannon (Winnipeg, MB). Stern went on to lose 8-3 against Homan. Stern responded with a 9-6 win over Seina Nakajima (Nagano, JPN). Stern won 6-5 against Tirinzoni to advance to a B-Qualifier game where they lost 6-4 against Kerri Einarson (Winnipeg, MB) to drop into a C-Qualifier game where they responded with a 7-2 win over Jamie Sinclair (Chaska, MN) to advance to the playoff round. in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Canad Inns Women's Classic Championship title, Stern earned 85.464 world rankings points along with the $15,500CDN first prize cheque. Stern move up 5 spots after posting a net gain of 64.886 points improving upon their best 4 results so far this season, ranking 11th overall with 294.998 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Stern ranks 8th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 130.373 points earned so far this season.
