Wow, TSN just failed massively, after advertising that they would show Canada-USA on at least most, if not all their channels, most importantly being TSN1, they are now just showing in on TSN 3 and 5.
WCTV just failed too, after not making Canada-US available in Canada.

What a crazy/incredible game between Canada and the US so far, 3 ends with 3 or more points and TSN1 is showing Cabbie instead.

Sad fact is that more "Canadian" sports fans are in March Madness Pools than World Curling Pools. At least Sportsnet showed the Canadian University Basketball Final last week.

I would rather they show tennis instead.

Hey Russ. Shuster is NOT a long-time lead. Played lead for Fenson for 2 years max, otherwise has always been a skip

And that was real exciting
Carleton should join the NCAA.

I am always surprised at the level of interest Canadians have shown in this March Madness madness. Canadian University Basketball is sadly hard to find.

What a battle!!! That was a total roller coaster of a game! Almost thought Canada was going to be out of it at one point. Wow, 21 scored points in that game...

I expect a declaration of war from Canada very soon. It is, after all, disgustingly offensive for an American team to even be competitive against a Canadian team, much less score ten points.

Thought USA was looking pretty good sitting 2 in the 9th. But the WCF youtube channel locked up on me and I did not see the last stone of that end when CAN doubled them out for 3. It better be in the WCF highlights!

So Norway somewhat expectedly dispatched China, Japan hammered Scotland, The Czech's squeezed past the Finn's and Canada won a cracker over the US.
After day 1 the top teams are Japan leading at 2-0, then 5 teams at 1-0.
Previewing draw 3: Sweden to defeat Italy and The Swiss over Russia.

Can vs USA was a very competitive game, very fun to watch. Both teams had chances to put it away, but they traded misses and great shots all the way. Wow!

Much as I had reservations about Sportsnet taking over a ton of curling coverage I'm now in their corner. Most of their coverage is adequate to great whereas TSN's coverage varies from mediocre to slightly above average (basically every game TSN covers is done the same way!
No excuse for TSN avoiding 1st round coverage just because Canada is not on the card. No excuse whatsoever!
Sportsnet extracted TSN's top product (NHL Hockey) last year and they've had their growing pains with some mediocre play by play guys, awful color guys, inexperienced but feisty panel boys, etc. Obviously, in out-bidding TSN for the NHL rights they bit off more than they could chew and need at least a year to sort out the rubbish and filter the bad guys, hire more good guys, etc.
TSN has demonstrated a stubborn propensity to do everything the same, seldom (if ever) listen to viewer feedback (they listen they just ignore) and now with 5 channels they're still beholden to Jays baseball, soccer, motorcar racing, PGA and specialty hockey (worlds women, Canada cup, etc.). I'm a football fan and having to withstand one of the worst guys ever in football play by play year after year despite thousands upon thousands of football fans expressing their displeasure with Rod Black. TSN also carries a couple occasional contributors in the flamboyant but nearly indecipherable Michael Landsberg and the prank-playing Cabaret Richards (aka Cabby).
3 immutable truths for the season:
1. Rodawful Black will be trotted out for another season of miserable CFL play-by-play.
2. Michael Landsberg will ask the worst questions possible of his spot guests on Off the Record - and have pretty much the same panel of guests every nite - mostly ex-NHL guys who can't find work elsewhere or Toronto radio guys who are trying desperately to boost their social media followings.
3. Cabby - will desecrate the art of athlete interviews with his propensity to snuggle up and kiss his interviewees. Awful stuff, just awful.
TSN better start up-grading and paying attention to repeat criticism. Conseuquences? Sportsnet probably makes a play for Brier, STOH and/or World coverage when TSN's contracts lapse.
Same with CFL football. TSN is exclusive TV provider for another 4 years - but Sportsnet might make a major play soon.
Personally, I think competition is good. TSN should get 20 to 30% of the NHL games back cuz Sportsnet is having problems with the volume.
Sportsnet should be granted rights to do STOH or Brier every year. (Take turns with TSN) and same with world curling coverage.
CBC and/or Sportsnet should also get 1 CFL game per week - TSN really botches stuff up when they have to do 4 games per weekend and Black is forced into service for at least one.
Right now TSN is showing incredible hubris by ignoring every other team other than Canada. Even when Canada plays a fawn, TSN could easily go to a match between two world titans, coming back to Canada's game when necessary.
Funny Legend in your own mind.
I like the fact that you get to voice your opinion, but it is just that. one mans opinion.
i suggest you buy a ticket and go to an event.
or just buy the sports net package only...and watch the pro curling tour.
They don't wear a country on their back..just play for money....for 2 ends cause anyone knows match play is over when you are up by 2...guess they never figured that one out when they attempted that one. Legend...hah

I know there's a few of you out there that review shooting percentages. If you happen to find where they've hidden the ones for this event, I'd appreciate knowing.

TSN and WCF are taking the morning off, but CurlingGeek won't:
Russia v. Switzerland at 9:30am at

Sending out some warm and safe thoughts to the passengers of AC624...surely some of the people on that flight were on their way in to Halifax for the curling.
