Germans Prevail in Beaumont

Sixten Totzek of Fuessen won 5-3 over Dustin Kalthoff of Saskatoon to take the Hack2House ACS Major.

Totzek, with Joshua Sutor, Jan-Lucia Haag and Magnus Sutor win their first title outside Europe, joining the swath of International teams winning events in Canada.

Totzek started with hammer, earning that right in a pre-game draw challenge against Kalthoff.

With both teams advancing through the C-event in the triple knockout qualifying round, the teams stood on equal footing entering the final.

Totzek scored a single in the first end, then adding two points in the third end for an early 3-1 lead.

The teams traded singles through the next four end, with Totzek leading 5-3 without hammer into the final end.

Kalthoff, playing with Sam Wills and Mat Ring as a team of three, was unable to generate enough offence and was run out of rocks.

Totzek jumps to 46th on the World Curling Team Rankings with the win, adding 25.1 points to their total.

Kalthoff settles into 47th earning 16.5 ranking points with their second place finish.

Totzek opened their season in August at the Baden Masters in Switzerland, finishing 1-3.
