Starting with hammer, Fujisawa with Chinami Yoshida at third, Yumi Suzuki and Yurika Yoshida on the front end scored 3 in the first end, then added a steal in the second end. Skrlik scored 3 in the third end, then held Fujisawa to a single in the fourth end to trail 5-3. Skrlik scored a single in the fifth end to close the gap, then held Fujisawa to a single in the sixth end. Fujisaw stole one in the seventh end and ran Skrlik out of rocks in the eighth end for the 7-4 win. Champions of the Canadian Open Grand Slam nearly a year ago, the team has faced an up and down fall season where they've fallen from 5th to 10th overall with only 110 points on the WCF World Team Rankings (22nd overall on Year to Date) resulting from three missed playoff appearances. Fujisawa has still put together a strong 24 and 14 record, winning the ADVICS Cup in Japan in September but has posted only two playoffs results in five tournaments since, reaching the quarterfinals at the Saville Shootout in Edmonton and the Curlers Corner Autumn Gold Curling Classic in Calgary. Fujiisaw missed the playoffs at the Hack2House Alberta Curling Series Major and twice at the Grand Slams, the HearingLife Tour Challenge and the KIOTI National. Fujisawa faces Tabitha Peterson of Chaska, Minnesota at 9pm Central Time (10 pm Eastern Time) on Thursday, then plays Switzerland's Michele Jaeggi at 11:15 am on Friday. Fujisawa finishes their round-robin action on Saturday at 2:30 pm against Robyn Silvernagle of North Battleford.
