Inglis with Kira Brunton at third, Calissa Daly and Cassandra de Groot on the front end take home the $3,000CDN first place cheque along with 18.750 world ranking points, while Duncan receives $2,000CDN and 13.750 world ranking points for their second place finish. Inglis opened the scoring stealing 1 in the first end, then forced Duncan to a single in the second end. After a blank end, Duncan, with Megan Balsdon at third, Rachelle Strybosch at second and Tess Guyatt at lead got a steal of their own the fourth end, then forced Inglis to a single in the fifth end to tie the game at 2. After another blank end, Inglis stole the seventh end, making a great hit and roll under a corner guard. Duncan could see three-quarters of shot stone, but the added difficulty forced a mistake on the blank attempt. Now up 1 in the last end, Inglis kept the pressure on Duncan, forcing a difficult draw to score a single to tie the game, which didn't curl enough, leaving Inglis one more stolen point to clinch to seal the 4-2 win. In the semifinals, Inglis defeated Armstrong 5-4, stealing the extra end for the win when Armstrong slid heavy on a draw to the four-foot. In the other semifinal, Duncan defeated Zemmelink 8-4. "We're proud of ourselves for battling it through the playoffs and generating the steals needed to win all three of the playoff games," said Inglis following the win. "It was a fun final to be apart of. We always know it’s going to be a tough game against Hollie's team." In the quarterfinals, Zemmelink defeated Sudbury's Krysta Burns 5-4 Inglis finished 2-2 in the 12-team qualifying round, advancing into the playoff round grabbing the final playoff berth due to a better pre-game draw to the button than Toronto's Carly Howard and Sarah Bailey of St. Catharines. In their opening game, Inglis defeated Bailey (St. Catharines, ON) 8-2, then went on to lose 6-1 against Brandwood. Inglis responded with a 9-0 win over Lauren Mann (Timmins). Inglis went on to lose 4-2 against Duncan in their final qualifying round match. The event was held at the North Bay Granite Club, the first produced event from Curling Stadium North Bay as the facility is centrally located for teams from Toronto and Ottawa as well as offering new opportunities for teams in the north to compete locally. "We appreciated the northern hospitality in North Bay and hope to be back next year," added Inglis. |
