![]() Alberta's Brad Jacobs defeated Nova Scotia's Owen Purcell 10-6 to move on to the 3-4 page playoff game at the 2025 Montana's Brier in Kelowna, British Columbia. By Connor Simms, Brad Jacobs with Marc Kennedy at third, Brett Gallant and Ben Hebert on the front end bounces back after tough 1-2 page qualifier loss earlier in the day. They took on Nova Scotia's Owen Purcell in 3-4 page qualifier action, starting with the hammer due to their round-robin record. In the first end, Jacobs made a light weight hit around a buried stone for their deuce. After facing one Jacobs counter on their last, Purcell elected to play a tap split for two possible points, but could only get one point. In the third end, Jacobs hit and stuck for three points on their last to take an early 5-1 lead. Purcell was only able to grab their single drawing to the eight-foot. Jacobs made an open hit and stick for their single in the fifth. Unable to find a deuce, Purcell found the eight foot for another single point in the sixth. Jacobs kept firing, getting another deuce playing a two foot tap to the button. Purcell found their first deuce of the game in the eighth, scoring 8-5 after eight. In the ninth end, Jacobs' final rock for four picked, giving a steal of one for Purcell. Ultimately, Jacobs made a pick double on his last to grab two more and a 10-6 victory. As a team they curled 89%, individually: Brad curled 90%, Marc curled 94%, Brett curled 84%, and Ben curled 91%. Jacobs went a perfect 8-0 through a round robin. Starting round robin with a win over Yukon's Thomas Scoffin 10-3, then broke the record with a 20-2 victory over Northwest Territories Aaron Bartling. They defeated Prince Edward Island's Tyler Smith 10-3, and Saskatchewan's Rylan Kleiter 6-3. They continued their winning streak with wins over Nova Scotia's Owen Purcell 7-3 and Ontario's Sam Mooibroek 11-5. On the final day of round robin they defeated Quebec's Felix Asselin 6-4 and Saskatchewan's Mike McEwen 7-6. Losing their first game in the 1-2 page qualifier to Canada's Brad Gushue. With that win they move on to play Manitoba's Reid Carruthers in the 3-4 page playoff game Saturday at 1:30 pm Mountain Time (MT).
