They took on Mike McEwen in Friday afternoon's 1-2 page qualifier game, winning the opening draw to the button for the hammer. Dunstone was forced to draw to the four foot in the first end for their single. McEwen then responded with a single of their own, making a hit and stick. After a blank in the third, Dunstone played pick on a semi-open McEwen stone for two points. McEwen then responded with a deuce of their own, drawing to the four foot. Dunstone in the sixth end made a highlight reel pick for two more points and a 5-3 lead. After another blank in the seventh, McEwen had a tough runback double, leaving one Dunstone counter for the steal. In the ninth, McEwen was forced to their single point. Dunstone made double on his last against three McEwen stones to grab the 6-5 victory. The team curled 93% individually: Matt curled 95%, Colton curled 86%, E.J. curled 93%, and Ryan curled 96%. Going 7-1 through round robin, opening the week with wins over Alberta's Kevin Koe 6-2, Nunavut's Shane Latimer 13-2 and British Columbia's Cameron de Jong 7-4. Suffering their only loss of the event to Northern Ontario's John Epping 7-8. They bounced back with wins over Newfoundland, Labrador's Ty Dilello 5-4, and New Brunswick's James Grattan 9-3. Wrapping up round robin with wins over Manitoba's Reid Carruthers 8-6 and Newfoundland's Labrador's Brad Gushue 7-6. In their next game, they will take on Canada's Brad Gushue Saturday at 8:30 pm Central Time (CT) for a spot in Sunday's final.
