Homan Advances to Scotties Final
![]() Ottawa's Rachel Homan (photo: Andrew Klaver, Curling Canada) won 8-4 over Gimli's Kerri Einarson to advance to the Scotties Final. Homan put on another clinic on Saturday evening at Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay, making several big shots in a clinical dissection of Team Einarson. It looked early that Einarson and her team of Val Sweeting, Karlee Burgess and Krysten Karwacki would make a game of it, forcing Homan to a single in the second end. After Homan stole another point in the third end when Einarson's tap against multiple Homan counters came short of scoring. After a blank in the fourth end, Einarson scored two in the fifth end to even the score. Homan, with Tracy Fleury, Emma Miskew and Sarah Wilkes, came out strong in the second half of the game. In the sixth end, Homan made a difficult, through-the-port double to score two and take another two-point lead. Port Shot for Two
Homan then stole two points in the seventh end to take a commanding 6-2 lead. Einarson drew for two points in the eighth end to cut the deficit to two points. In the ninth end, after Einarson made a great hit-and-roll to set up a potential steal point, Homan made another big shot, with the hack weight run back to score two points. Down four into the last end, Einarson conceded as they get one more opportunity Sunday in the semifinal against Halifax's Christina Black. Black won 8-7 over Calgary's Kayla Skrlik in the Page 3v4 game. The semifinal goes at 1 pm Eastern Time (ET), followed by the Gold Medal Final at 7 pm. |
