 Halifax Curling Club's Christina Black (photo: Andrew Klaver, Curling Canada) secured a win over British Columbia's Corryn Brown in the Page 3v4 Seeding game to stay alive in Thunder Bay. By: Meredith McCullum Black, with Karlee Everist, Jenn Baxter, Jill Brothers and Marlee Powers opened the game with a deuce, then a steal to go up 3-0 early. The teams exchanged singles in the third and fourth and Brown scored 2 in the fifth to make it a 4-3 game halfway through. Black opened the second half of the game with another deuce and steal to go up 7-3. In the eighth end, Brown scored 2 to close the gap to 7-5 with 2 ends to play. Black would score a single in the ninth. In the tenth, Brown needed to score 3 to win. She had very difficult runback double on her last to score 3 but peeled the guard instead, giving up a steal of 2 to make the final score 10-5 for Nova Scotia. Black will move on to face Alberta's Kayla Skrlik in the Page 3v4 playoff game Saturday afternoon at 1pm Eastern Time. The winner of the game will move onto the semifinal where they face the loser of the 1v2 Page Playoff between Rachel Homan and Kerri Einarson. |
