 Ottawa's Rachel Homan won 10-5 over Christina Black of Halifax to advance to the Page 1v2 game. Homan, with Tracy Fleury, Emma Miskew and Sarah Wilkes, scored a single in the first end to open scoring. In the second end, a near disaster for Black and the team of Jill Brothers, Jennifer Baxter and Karlee Everist, as their hit-and-roll attempt against three rubbed a guard. The shot, only glancing, managed to outcount two of Homan's counters to cut the damage to a single-point steal. Black rebounded with a pair in the third end to even the score, with Homan retaking the lead with a single in the fourth end. Homan continued to apply pressure on Black, stealing singles in the fifth and sixth ends to take a 5-2 lead. Black scored a single point in the seventh end; then, teams traded deuces to leave Homan up 7-5 with a hammer in the tenth end. Homan added three points to settle a 10-5 win. Homan next plays Gimli's Kerri Einarson in the Page 1v2 game on Saturday at 7 pm Eastern Time. The winner of the game will advance directly to Sunday's Final, while the losing team gets one more life, dropping into the semifinal. |
