Black Wins over Quebec
![]() Nova Scotia's Christina Black (photo: Andrew Klaver, Curling Canada) stays on top of Pool B with six teams still alive into final round-robin draw. While Pool A is settled for the three playoff teams, there are a host of scenarios that keep everyone with three losses alive for the playoffs in Pool B. Black, and her team of Jill Brothers, Jennifer Baxter and Karlee Everist kept pace with the leaders by stealing a 7-6 win over Quebec's Laurie St-Georges. Black rebounded from yesterday's loss to Kerri Einarson quickly, stealing singles in the first and second ends. St-Georges, with Jamie Sinclair, Emily Riley and Lisa Weagle, scored three in the third end to jump into the lead. Black scored two points in the fourth end to retake the lead. After the teams traded singles in the fifth and sixth ends, St-Georges blanked the seventh end and then scored two points in the eighth to retake the lead. Black was forced to a single in the ninth end, leaving St-Georges with the hammer in the final end, though unable to execute their last shot, giving the Nova Scotia side the steal and the win. St-Georges has the final draw bye, meaning their 5-3 record leaves them tied for fourth place currently, though many iterations bring them back into the story. St-Georges Last Stone Draw (LSD) total of 386.8 cm is better than all three teams ahead of them in the standings, all of which have one game remaining. Black (5-2) plays Manitoba's Kate Cameron (4-3), and Kerri Einarson (5-2) plays Kaitlyn Lawes (4-3) in an all-Manitoba battle. Lawes comes in with the best shootout score of all teams in the field, with a combined total of 165.3 cm, with one game to come. Ontario's Danielle Inglis (5-2) plays Kerri Galusha (3-4) in the final round-robin draw. |
