 Calgary's Kayla Skrlik (Photo: Andrew Klaver, Curling Canada) improved to 4-2 with a win over Saskatchewan on Tuesday. Skrlik and her team of Margot Flemming, Ashton Skrlik and Geri-Lynn Ramsay won 10-5 over Saskatoon's Nancy Martin to put themselves in the driver's seat for one of the three playoff berths from their pool. Skrlik lines up to play Prince Edward Island and Nunavut in their last two round-robin games, and with one win between their two opponents, it comes down to Skrlik taking care of business to book their place into the final six. Add in their wins over BC's Corryn Brown, Alberta's Selena Sturmay, and New Brunswick's Melissa Adams and Martin; it means that Skrlik will hold the tiebreaker advantage against most teams they may end up tied with at the end of round-robin play. Skrlik dropped their other game to Ottawa's Rachel Homan, who's undefeated and appears to be running away with the top spot, and Northern Ontario's Krista McCarville, who's currently on life support with four losses. McCarville's hometown Thunder Bay squad still has a sliver of hope for a playoff spot, though it does require Skrlik to lose both remaining games, along with several other results to go their way. Skrlik returns to the ice on Wednesday at 7 pm Eastern Time (ET) against Jane DiCarlo, the completes round-robin play at 2 pm on Thursday against Julia Weagle of Iqaluit. |
