Cameron, with Taylor McDonald, Brianna Cullen and Mackenzie Elias, continues to ride the momentum from their win in the Manitoba Championship in January. Without hammer to start against St-Georges, Cameron stole two points in the first end to get on the scoreboard. St-Georges, with Jamie Sinclair, Emily Riley and Lisa Weagle, bounced back in the second end, scoring three points. St-Georges continued to control play early, forcing Cameron to a single point in the third end to regain hammer advantage. The fourth end was the turning point in the game, where Cameron pressured St-Georges throughout the end, lying five counters ahead of St-Georges last shot. After some discussion around which shot to play, St-Georges opted for the hit and roll, with the miss leaving five stolen points on the board for Cameron. Cameron stole two more in the fifth end to hold a 10-3 lead into the break. St-Georges scored two points in the sixth end, then stole a point in the seventh end to close the gap, though Cameron scored two points in the eighth end to seal the win. The win improved Cameron's record to 39-22 on the season. Cameron opened their Scotties competition on Saturday afternoon with an 8-4 win over Yellowknife's Kerry Galusha, following up with a 12-3 loss to Winnipeg's Kaitlyn Lawes on Sunday morning. In Sunday's evening draw, Cameron bounced back with a 15-4 win over Brooke Godsland of Newfoundland and Labrador. Cameron hits the ice next on Tuesday evening, facing the third Manitoba team in their pool - Gimli's Kerri Einarson - who's coming off back-to-back losses. |
