Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) lost 5-3 to Brendan Bottcher (Calgary, AB) in the Final of the Co-op Canadian Open, held January 10 - 15, 2023 in Camrose, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, Edin won 8-5 over Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) in the semifinals of the 2023 Co-op Canadian Open in Camrose, Alberta; and won 6-2 over Korey Dropkin (Duluth, MN) in the quarterfinals.
 
Edin finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Edin defeated Tanner Horgan (Sudbury, NONT) 6-4, then won 5-4 against Magnus Ramsfjell (Lillehammer, NOR) and 6-3 against Gushue in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Co-op Canadian Open, Edin take home 55.000 world rankings points along with the $20,000CDN prize, remaining in 1st place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 23 after improving upon their best so far this season. Edin ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 293.750 points earned so far this season.
