Johnson Tao (Edmonton, AB) lost 7-2 to SooHyuk Kim (Uiseong, KOR) in the Final of the Alberta Curling Series: Avonair, held October 1 - 3, 2021 at the Avonair Curling Club in Edmonton, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Tao won 5-2 over Evan van Amsterdam (Calgary, AB) in the semifinals of the 2021 Alberta Curling Series: Avonair in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada;

Tao finished 3-1 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Tao defeated Warren Cross (Edmonton, AB) 8-2, then won 6-1 against van Amsterdam and 7-6 against Ryan Jacques (Edmonton, AB). Tao went on to lose 8-5 against Scott Webb (Grande Prairie, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Alberta Curling Series: Avonair, Tao take home 11.818 world rankings points along with the $1,480CDN prize. For week 10 of the event schedule, Tao did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Tao ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
