Bottcher Out!

Brendan Bottcher (photo: Stan Fong) is moving on from now former teammates Marc Kennedy, Brett Gallant and Ben Hebert, announced Tuesday.

The Statement from Brendan Bottcher read:

"Over the past two seasons, I have grown so much as a Skip, colleague, and as a friend. Although no longer teammates, I wish Ben, Marc, Brett and Paul all the best on and off the ice."

The Bottcher foursome joined together following the 2022 Olympic season, bring together four of the best players at their respective positions with goals of putting together a more professional curling program behind coach Paul Webster.

Bottcher went 107-42 over the four year stretch, reaching #1 on the World Curling Team Rankings early this season and holding it for four weeks. The team was unable to ride that early season success into winning the Brier as change became necessary.

Bottcher finished the season fourth overall, behind top-ranking Joel Retornaz of Italy, Bruce Mouat of Scotland and Canada's Brad Gushue, winner of last week's Players' Championship in Toronto.

The remaining three will be sticking together under the guidance of Coach Webster, releasing their own statement on Facebook through Team Bottcher Curling.

"We have decided to make a change at the skip position and will be considering our options in the coming days."
