Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED) lost 5-4 to Rich Ruohonen (Minneapolis, USA) in the Final of the Changan Ford International Curling Elite, held December 5 - 10, 2019 in Xining, China. To advance to the championship game, van Dorp won 7-4 over Chang-Min Kim (Uiseong, KOR) in the semifinals

van Dorp finished 4-3 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, van Dorp defeated Andrin Schnider (St. Gallen, SUI) 2-0, then went on to lose 7-5 against Kim. van Dorp lost 5-3 to Fredrik Nyman (Stockholm, SWE). van Dorp lost 10-4 to Ruohonen where van Dorp responded with a 6-3 win over Qiang Zou (Beijing, CHN). van Dorp won 7-5 against Tanner Horgan (Winnipeg Beach, MB), then won 8-2 against Sergei Glukhov (Sochi, RUS) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Changan Ford International Curling Elite, van Dorp take home 25.060 world rankings points along with the $13,232CDN prize. van Dorp move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 20.372 points improving upon their best 7 results so far this season, ranking 25th overall with 189.727 total points on the World Ranking Standings. van Dorp ranks 25th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 125.912 points earned so far this season.
