John Epping (Toronto, ON) lost 6-5 to Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, NONT) in the Final of the Meridian Canadian Open, held January 14 - 19, 2020 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. To advance to the championship game, Epping won 7-4 over Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) in the semifinals of the 2020 Meridian Canadian Open in Yorkton, Saskatchewan; and won 8-3 over Bruce Mouat (Edinburgh, SCO) in the quarterfinals. of the 2020 Meridian Canadian Open in Yorkton, Saskatchewan;
 
Epping finished 3-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Epping defeated Kirk Muyres (Saskatoon, SK) 5-4, then went on to lose 7-1 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB). Epping responded with a 6-3 win over Ross Paterson (Glasgow, SCO). Epping won 6-5 against Matt Dunstone (Regina , SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Meridian Canadian Open, Epping take home 66.361 world rankings points along with the $20,000CDN prize, remaining in 2nd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 62.307 after improving upon their best so far this season. Epping ranks 2nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 419.777 points earned so far this season.
