To advance to the championship game, Lyburn won 8-4 over Gustav Eskilsson (Skellefte�, SWE) in the semifinals of the 2016 DEKALB Superspiel in Morris, Manitoba, Canada; and won 6-1 over Dennis Bohn (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals.
 
Lyburn finished 4-0 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Lyburn defeated Darryl Horsman (Tempe, AZ) 8-2, then won 6-5 against Taylor McIntyre (Winnipeg, MB) and 4-2 against Eskilsson. Lyburn won 6-4 against McEwen in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the DEKALB Superspiel, Lyburn take home 36.347 world rankings points along with the $6,600CDN prize.
