Sweeting won 6-2 against Laura Crocker (Edmonton, AB), then won 6-2 against Jill Thurston (Winnipeg, MB). Sweeting went on to lose 8-6 against Michele Jaggi (Bern, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Sweeting earned 5.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, dropping 1 spots on the World Ranking Standings into 20th place overall with 91.245 total points. Sweeting ranks 10th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 24.340 points earned so far this season.
