Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB) lost 9-4 to Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) in the Final of the Canad Inns Prairie Classic, held October 19 - 22, 2012 at the Portage Curling Club in Portage La Prairie, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Martin won 4-2 over Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON) in the semifinals of the 2012 Canad Inns Prairie Classic in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada; and won 8-5 over Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) in the quarterfinals.

Martin finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Martin defeated Dave Elias (Winnipeg, MB) 7-2, then won 7-1 against Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB). Martin went on to lose 7-4 against Jeff Stoughton (winnipeg, MB). Martin responded with a 6-2 win over David Bohn (Winnipeg, MB). Martin won 5-4 against Rob Fowler (Brandon, MB). Martin went on to lose 7-1 against Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB). Martin responded with a 8-2 win over Heath McCormick (New York, NY) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Canad Inns Prairie Classic, Martin take home 25.000 world rankings points along with the $10,000CDN prize, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 2nd place overall with 276.970 total points. Martin ranks 4th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 64.500 points earned so far this season.
