Sonnenberg finished 5-2 in the 32 team Manitoba Lotteries Womens Curling Classic qualifying round, held October 21 - 24, 2011 at the Fort Rouge Curling Club in Winnipeg, Canada. In their opening game, Sonnenberg defeated Jill Thurston (Winnipeg, MB) 7-1, then went on to lose 7-6 against Jennifer Jones (Winnipeg, MB). Sonnenberg responded with a 5-2 win over Anette Norberg (Karlstad, SWE). Sonnenberg went on to lose 8-5 against Stefanie Lawton (Saskatoon, SK). Sonnenberg won 8-1 against Dana Ferguson (Calgary, AB), then won 7-5 against Desiree Owen (Grande Prairie, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
