They both had the same record. Canada beat them head to head. Therefore Canada gets the hammer. That is a fact. Sorry you have trouble understanding that.

Except the Swiss were clearly the 2 seed entering the game so they were the better seed which should give them the hammer. So what was said was factually incorrect.

It’s clear that the WCF uses a very dubious method to determine hammer in playoff games. It should be solely based on seed

LOL. Don’t have a stroke. They had to go to the SECOND tie breaking format to decide between can, Swiss and Japan to decide who got second place. Once the playoffs came Swiss got the bye to the semis because of their draw to the button accumulation. The weren’t a clear second place, therefore when playing between the 2 teams ( can vs Swiss) Canada recieved hammer because they had the aame record as Swiss, but beat them in the rr. Clear as mud???

Great last rock win (by about 2 inches) by Canada.

Thought KK & BJ were coming down with a mild case of the McEwenjeebies in 9 + 10 but they perservered, even though Suisse Skippy played a perfect draw game.

Thankfully, Koe wasn't required to draw to a piece of toilet tissue - had about a 2.5 sq. ft. area to plant his final stone!

I’m sure that the gracious Canadians wouldn’t be upset at all if their team had ended up without the hammer in this all important game based on a silly rule.

The team with the better seed (regardless of how it should come) should have the advantage in a game against a lower seed.

KK needs to take Colton and have a one on one talk with him. Keep Bennie out of any conversation. Colton is too wound up and is costing the team too many points.

Agree with "Tongo" on my curling facebook page how unexpressive guys like Kevin Koe & BJ are bringing joy to the great live crowds in Lethbridge (they are great, aren't they?) and the huge audiences around Canada and live-streaming.

The entire production has been a plus - guys like Mouat & De Cruz are no longer bright little muppets told to step aside on command. Scotland & Switzerland have amazing A-teams now, just have to work on the depth.

As for Koe - he didn't crumple on command like past Canadian teams (including his Olympic outfit which featured Marc "Freakin" Kennedy - he buckled up and get mean, got tough, got stubborn when the other guys started to pepper his team with impossible shots and great strategy.

I'm now even used to Kevin's wont to DRAIN THE CLOCK - and discuss almost every shot with cast mates. Anyone with basic ideas about curling would be wise to tune into these strategy fests (sometimes a bit boring) because he's really delivering seminars into the game and how to defend or aggress when required.

Far better than Vickie, Russ & Cheryl who were possibly at their worst this week. With only one primary team to cover - they were 1-sided homers plus each end's commentary kinda sounded like the last end.

This evening's gold medal game promises to be another Koe Klassic - - - - the only spoiler is 3 letters long - ie. NIK

Edin can be almost as epic as Koe in accuracy and hitting doubles & triples. Both guys more than above average on draws.

Biggest difference tonite could be the best 3rd in the world (sorry Mark Nichols) confronting the man picked up off a Manitoba scrap heap - and now playing for world gold - - - BJ Neufeld.

No question BJ has had a wonderful ride this week - showing more emotion & joy than ever before (Jeff Stoughton has had a big role in this, no question) but his ride might come to an abrupt end tonite - when confronted by the Oskar & Nik show.

Last nite - final 3 ends looked like BJ had come down with a mild case of the McEwenjeebies - popping out shots just enough to fail perfect execution. If Oskar is Oskar & BJ is fighting the McJeebies could be a tough chase for the Koe boys!

I thought Colton was making some pretty good shots. KK did speak with him but it must be hard for this kid to remain calm when so much is on the line for him. I do agree, however, keep benny out of any conversations. The last thing Colton needs is another big brother. The look on his face sometimes makes me think of "OMG, I'm here at the worlds. I've arrived. This is surreal" All the best today Team Koe.

Two weeks back we had a women's final between 2 hall of famers, hope the KK express vs Edin machine is just as entertaining.
No extra end though, want to see that Egyptian tomb opening.

Perhaps KK could let Flash take a day or two under Matt Hamilton's wing. . . . . learn how to sign autographs during actual games - - - - and watch the action on all sheets!

Yeah, that'll do it . . .

PS. Leave Flash alone - he's up with the monsters now - not curling all that bad - and some of his misses actually set the table for Koe's bigger ends!

Slow walking does seem a very beneficial aspect to coaching. Good post.

Perhaps better to have 90 second timeouts - which start when called - - - allowing up to 30 seconds for consultant to make way to the area?

OK, I'll admit it - Vic Rauter beat me to a great nickname

ie. KUDINI

Start the clock asap after time out is called, might see the coaches sprint down the sheet. Why have a 60 second time out with the 2 minute saunter?

These two teams are so evenly matched, it's going to come down to a minor mistake or miss to decide the winner.

The fans are getting their money's worth in Lethbridge tonight.

Guess he didn’t have his one on one with them before the game.

A broken rock. That's new for a world championship final game.
The delay to fix the rock didn't seem to affect Edin.
