Lott/Lott make it two straight

The defending Canadian mixed doubles champions Kadriana and Colton Lott are trying to get back on top in Canada after a disappointing Olympic Trials saw them miss the playoff round.

Looking to etch their names on the trophy for a second straight year, the pair opened competition with a dominant 11-2 win over Veronique Bouchard and Jean-Francois Charest of Quebec. They then faced Marlee Powers and Luke Saunders, the Nova Scotia champions, in Draw 4.

Starting with last rock advantage, the pair, representing the Gimli Curling Club, put the hammer to good use, scoring three in the first end. They then stole one in the second to go ahead 4-0.

In three, Powers/Saunders could only manage one with Lott/Lott scoring two in the fourth to increase their lead to 6-1. The Nova Scotians then scored their only multi-point end of the game with two in the fifth before the Manitobans ended things early with one in the sixth, 7-3 the final score.

This week in Summerside will feel like a redemption arc for Colton Lott who just over a week ago lost the 2025 Montana's Brier final in a narrow 5-3 defeat to Brad Jacobs. While Jacobs himself is not competing in the event, his second Brett Gallant is with wife Jocelyn Peterman, a team the Lott's can expect to see in the playoffs should they qualify.

Now with a 2-0 start, Team Lott/Lott next take on Emilia Gagne and Pierre-Luc Morissette (1-1; Quebec City, QC) at 7 pm AT Monday night. They will then play two games Tuesday and two games Wednesday before the playoff round begins on Thursday.

In their final round robin game, Kadriana and Colton play Jennifer Jones and Brent Laing which could be a game to decide who finishes on top of the pool and earns a direct quarterfinal bye.

With twelve teams advancing to the knockout round, a 4-3 record at minimum will be needed for a chance at qualification.
