Jacobs Victorious in Semi-Final

Alberta's Brad Jacobs (photo: Curling Canada/ Michael Burns) defeated Team Canada's Brad Gushue 7-5 in semi-final action at the 2025 Montana's Brier in Kelowna, British Columbia.

By Connor Simms,

Brad Jacobs with Marc Kennedy at third, Brett Gallant and Ben Hebert on the front end need one more to claim the Montana's Brier.

They took on Brad Gushue and his rink in the semi-final, starting with the hammer due to their perfect round robin record.

After blanks in the first three ends, Gushue made a perfect draw to the button, where Jacobs was unable to pick it out through a small port, leaving a steal of one for Gushue. Jacobs responded in the fifth with a massive three points, making the hit and stick.

Gushue unable to hit the button for their second point, had to settle for their single point. Jacobs was able to draw to the four foot against two, for their single in the seventh. Gushue responded with a big three points in the eighth, making an in off double to take the lead 5-4.

In the ninth, Jacobs bounced back with a two, making a half a rock pick for two points to regain the lead. In and end that looked like two for Gushue, he came up heavy on tap for the win, giving a steal of one and the 7-5 victory to Jacobs.

The team curled a total 89%, individually: Brad was 91%, Marc was 93%, Brett was 85% and Ben was 88%.

This means they will play Manitoba's Matt Dunstone in the final at 6:00 pm Mountain Time (MT). Live on TSN or watch the linescores on the CurlingZone Website.

Brad will look to win his first Brier since 2013, Marc looks to win his first since 2016, Brett looks to win his fifth brier title, last winning in 2022, and Ben looks to win his first since 2019.

On the other side, Matt and Colton look to win their first career brier, E.J. looks to win his third straight, fourth in total, and Ryan looks to win his first since 2013.

Jacobs is 3-1 against Dunstone this season, defeating him in their last three meetings: Nufloors Penticton Curling Classic, Co-op Canadian Open and the RbC Dominion Securities Western SHowdown. Dunstone won their meetin at the HearingLife Tour Challenge.
