Jeff Richard (Kelowna, BC) lost 8-2 to Jason Montgomery (Victoria, BC) in the Final of the King Cash Spiel, held October 20 - 22, 2023 at the Golden Ears Curling Club in Maple Ridge, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Richard won 8-6 over Kyler Kleibrink (Langley, BC) in the semifinals of the 2023 King Cash Spiel in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada; and won 8-2 over Paul Cseke (Victoria, BC) in the quarterfinals.
Richard finished 2-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Richard defeated Daniel Deng (New Westminster, BC) 7-3, then won 8-3 against Kaiden Beck (Salmon Arm, BC). Richard went on to lose 6-5 against Cseke in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the King Cash Spiel, Richard take home 8.250 world rankings points along with the $2,400CDN prize. Richard move up 3 spots after posting a net gain of 1.028 points improving upon their best 4 results so far this season, ranking 65th overall with 54.989 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Richard ranks 67th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 18.875 points earned so far this season.
