Rich Ruohonen (Minneapolis, MN) qualified for the 2023 DEKALB Superspiel playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 10-3 against Jordon McDonald (Winnipeg, MB). of the 2023 DEKALB Superspiel in Morris, Manitoba, Canada;

Ruohonen finished 4-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ruohonen defeated Ethan Sampson (Chaska, MN) 5-4, then went on to lose 5-3 against Ryan Wiebe (Winnipeg, MB). Ruohonen responded with a 6-2 win over Matthew Manuel (Halifax, NS). Ruohonen went on to lose 7-4 against McDonald. Ruohonen responded with a 8-1 win over Connor Kauffman (Blaine, MN) to advance to the C-Qualifier where they 7-0 against Nicholas Connolly (Seattle, WA) to advance to the playoff round. in their final qualifying round match.

Ruohonen earned 12.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the DEKALB Superspiel. Ruohonen move up 17 spots after posting a net gain of 8.579 points improving upon their best 6 results so far this season, ranking 65th overall with 51.829 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
