Gauthier finished 7-2 in the 10 team World Junior Mens Championship qualifying round, held February 15 - 22, 2020 in , . In their opening game, Gauthier lost 5-4 to Luc Violette (Lake Stevens, USA), then responded with a 8-3 win over Daniel Magnusson (Karlstad, SWE). Gauthier won 7-5 against Wagenseil, then won 7-2 against Giacomo Colli (Trentino, ITA) and 9-3 against Eirik Oey (Oslo, NOR). Gauthier won 7-1 against Matthew Neilson (Naseby, NZL), then won 8-5 against Totzek and 6-1 against Andrey Dudov (Moscow, RUS). Gauthier went on to lose 6-5 against James Craik (Aberdeen, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the World Junior Mens Championship Championship title, Gauthier earned 26.399 world rankings points. For week 31 of the event schedule, Gauthier did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Gauthier ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
