Stuart Thompson (Dartmouth, NS) needed a tiebreaker to advance to the playoffs, Thompson finished 4-3 in the 8 team Deloitte Nova Scotia Tankard qualifying round, held January 20 - 26 at the Dartmouth Curling Club in Dartmouth, Canada. In their opening game, Thompson defeated Brent MacDougall (Halifax, NS) 8-4, then won 9-5 against Andrew Gibson (Nova Scotia) and 9-8 against Alan O'Leary (Halifax, NS). Thompson went on to lose 8-7 against Kendal Thompson (Halifax, NS). Thompson lost 9-8 to Matthew Manuel (Halifax, NS) where Thompson responded with a 7-3 win over Chad Stevens (Truro, NS). Thompson went on to lose 11-4 against Jamie Murphy (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
Thompson earned 2.363 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. Thompson gained -6.386 points improving upon their best 8 events, though dropped 3 spots on the World Ranking Standings into 58thplace overall with 79.616 total points. Thompson ranks 59th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 70.867 points earned so far this season.
