Murphy won 8-4 against Chad Stevens (Truro, NS), then won 9-7 against Brent MacDougall (Halifax, NS). Murphy went on to lose 6-5 against Thompson. Murphy responded with a 11-4 win over Stuart Thompson (Dartmouth, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Deloitte Nova Scotia Tankard Championship title, Murphy earned 11.813 world rankings points. Murphy move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 2.565 points improving upon their best 8 results so far this season, ranking 34th overall with 123.505 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
