Scott McDonald (Kingston, ON) lost 7-2 to Yuta Matsumura (Kitami, JPN) in the Final of the Hokkaido Bank Curling Classic, held August 1 - 4, 2019 at the Hokkaido Bank Curling Stadium in Sapporo, Japan. To advance to the championship game, McDonald won 7-2 over SooHyuk Kim (Seoul, KOR) in the semifinals of the 2019 Hokkaido Bank Curling Classic in Sapporo, Japan;
 
McDonald finished 3-1 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McDonald defeated Kirk Muyres (Saskatoon, SK) 5-4, then won 5-3 against Kei Kamada (Sapporo, JPN) and 7-6 against Jongduk Park (Gangwon, KOR). McDonald went on to lose 8-5 against Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Hokkaido Bank Curling Classic, McDonald take home 26.813 world rankings points along with the $6,251CDN prize, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 14th place overall with 255.770 total points. McDonald ranks 3rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 26.813 points earned so far this season.
