John Shuster (Duluth, USA) qualified for the 2019 Pioneer Hi-Bred World Men's Curling Championship playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 7-6 against Yuta Matsumura (Sapporo, JPN). of the 2019 Pioneer Hi-Bred World Men's Curling Championship in Lethbridge, Alberta;

Shuster finished 8-4 in the 13-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Shuster lost 6-5 to Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED), then responded with a 6-3 win over SooHyuk Kim (Seoul, KOR). Shuster won 8-6 against Marc Muskatewitz (Baden Baden, GER), then won 9-8 against Bruce Mouat (Stirling, SCO) and 10-3 against Sergei Glukhov (Sochi, RUS). Shuster went on to lose 7-4 against Peter De Cruz (Geneve, SUI). Shuster responded with a 8-3 win over Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA). Shuster won 7-5 against Qiang Zou (Beijing, CHN). Shuster went on to lose 6-3 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, CAN). Shuster responded with a 10-4 win over Matsumura. Shuster went on to lose 8-4 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE). Shuster responded with a 8-4 win over Magnus Ramsfjell (Oslo, NOR) in their final qualifying round match.

Shuster earned 34.432 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Pioneer Hi-Bred World Men's Curling Championship. For week 34 of the event schedule, Shuster did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Shuster ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
