Ruohonen won 5-3 against Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA), then won 6-5 against Gushue and 7-4 against De Jia Zou (Harbin, CHN). Ruohonen won 5-3 against Marc Pfister (Adelboden, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.

Ruohonen earned 28.991 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the World Mens Curling Championship.
