To advance to the championship game, Laycock won 7-3 over Brock Virtue (Unity, SK) in the semifinals of the 2018 SaskTel Tankard in Estevan, Saskatchewan;

Laycock finished 5-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Laycock defeated Aaron Shutra (Saskatoon, SK) 8-3, then won 8-3 against Jason Jacobson (Saskatoon, SK). Laycock went on to lose 8-7 against Brady Kendel (Saskatoon, SK). Laycock responded with a 8-2 win over Adam Casey (Regina, SK). Laycock won 10-2 against Scott Bitz (Saskatoon, SK). Laycock went on to lose 8-7 against Virtue. Laycock responded with a 8-1 win over Ryan Deis (Fox Valley, SK) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the SaskTel Tankard Championship title, Laycock earned 23.520 world rankings points, remaining in 12th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 21.215 after improving upon their best so far this season. Laycock ranks 21st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 140.207 points earned so far this season.
