Point Optical Curling Classic qualifying round, held September 27 - 30, 2013 at the Nutana Curling Club in Saskatoon, Canada. In their opening game, Kean defeated Heath McCormick (New York, NY) 6-5, then won 5-4 against Matthew Blandford (Calgary, AB). Kean went on to lose 6-3 against Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB). Kean lost 6-4 to Pete Fenson (Bemidji, MN) where Kean responded with a 4-3 win over Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL). Kean won 10-4 against Jared Kolomaya (Stonewall, MB). Kean went on to lose 7-6 against John Morris (Vernon, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Kean earned 5.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 11th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 124.810 total points. Kean ranks 15th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 15.000 points earned so far this season.
