Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA) won 6-2 over Bruce Mouat (Stirling, SCO) in the Final of the WFG Masters, held December 6 - 11, 2022 in Oakville, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Retornaz won 3-1 over Brendan Bottcher (Calgary, AB) in the semifinals of the 2022 WFG Masters in Oakville, Ontario; and won 6-2 over Yannick Schwaller (Geneva, SUI) in the quarterfinals. of the 2022 WFG Masters in Oakville, Ontario;
Retornaz finished 3-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Retornaz defeated Colton Flasch (Saskatoon , SK) 7-2, then went on to lose 6-5 against Oskar Eriksson (Karlstad, SWE). Retornaz responded with a 7-6 win over Marco Hoesli (Glarus, SUI). Retornaz won 9-3 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the WFG Masters Championship title, Retornaz earned 75.000 world rankings points along with the $35,000CDN first prize cheque. Retornaz move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 47.004 points improving upon their best 5 results so far this season, ranking 6th overall with 300.738 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Retornaz ranks 3rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 216.750 points earned so far this season.
