Whyte won 6-3 against Yuta Matsumura (Kitami, JPN). Whyte went on to lose 6-4 against Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB). Whyte responded with a 5-4 win over Peter De Cruz (Geneve, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
