Steffen Walstad (Oppdal, NOR) qualified for the 2018 DEKALB Superspiel playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 5-3 against Kirk Muyres (Saskatoon, SK). of the 2018 DEKALB Superspiel in Morris, Manitoba, Canada;

Walstad finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Walstad defeated Jeff Stewart (Carberry, MB) 5-2, then won 8-5 against Travis Bale (Winnipeg, MB). Walstad went on to lose 7-3 against Muyres. Walstad responded with a 7-4 win over Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB). Walstad went on to lose 8-2 against 's Charley Thomas. Walstad responded with a 5-4 win over Daniel Birchard (Winnipeg, MB). Walstad won 10-3 against Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED) in their final qualifying round match.
