To advance to the championship game, McEwen won 6-5 over Ewan MacDonald (Perth, SCO) in the semifinals of the 2013 Mercure Perth Masters in Perth, Scotland; and won 7-3 over Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN) in the quarterfinals. of the 2013 Mercure Perth Masters in Perth, Scotland;
McEwen finished 4-0 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Murray Young (Perth, SCO) 8-1, then won 7-4 against Mario Freiberger (Zug, SUI) and 5-4 against Warwick Smith (Perth, SCO). McEwen won 8-1 against Switzerland's Pascal Hess in their final qualifying round match.
