Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED) won 4-2 over Tanner Horgan (Sudbury, NONT) in the Final of the Stu Sells Oakville Tankard Tier 2, held September 8 - 11, 2016 in Oakville, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, van Dorp won 7-6 over Brady Clark (Seattle, USA) in the semifinals of the 2016 Stu Sells Oakville Tankard Tier 2 in Oakville, Ontario; and won 4-2 over Pat Ferris (Grimsby, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Stu Sells Oakville Tankard Tier 2 in Oakville, Ontario;

van Dorp finished 3-1 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, van Dorp defeated Clark 6-5, then won 5-2 against Felix Asselin (Montreal, QC) and 5-4 against Pete Fenson (Bemidji, USA). van Dorp went on to lose 7-6 against Glenn Garneys (London, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Stu Sells Oakville Tankard Tier 2 Championship title, van Dorp earned 33.968 world rankings points along with the $4,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 8 spots the World Ranking Standings into 22nd place overall with 145.674 total points. van Dorp ranks 6th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 47.709 points earned so far this season.
