Great that they'll be streaming this event. What a lot of events drop their ball on IMO is not providing any sort of live feed aside from maybe the occasional team streaming their games. Much more fun than just hitting refresh on the WCT page!

Hope all the teams got there.
Highways are closed between Winnipeg and Portage, so if they flew into Winnipeg late last night, they won't get to Portage.
Snow, blowing snow, strong winds.
No fall here and farmers still harvesting!
Other than locals, probably not a lot in the stands now either and it is to go on all weekend this storm.

No score being shown, just the rocks left? And actually that is wrong too. Shows Calvert with the hammer in the 6th.
I shouldn't complain, it is a nice broadcast otherwise.

Just caught the last few ends. Good coverage. Anyone know if CBC plans any more events being streamed?

The stream is not happening.
"Live Will Start" shows, but nothing.

Yup no score for the Dropkin/Ty Dilello game, none for the McEwan/Morozumi match and none for the Willie Lyburn/Gushue game. Maybe scratched/held back by the weather. Steaming was cancelled for this draw according to the Dropkin FB page.
Edit: Appears Ty Dilello and Willie Lyburn couldn't make it.

I wondered why there'd been no posts. So, ice quality has been compromised, eh! They should just turn it into a novelty spiel. Draw for the turkey. Not another fog bowl, but on par.

Pretty poor that there is no info provided by the curling people or media. Don't need hydro to to post on internet news outlets.

Gerry has been keeping people somewhat up to date on curlingzone's twitter.
power still out
going to be really interesting to see what happens here. if they cant get power back on today i cant see them finishing this until tuesday maybe even wednesday
im not sure that these teams can afford to stay that long at some point maybe they start leaving
im curious if an event has ever been called off. i dont recall it ever happening

yeah, based off what i just read this event is over. forced to end early without power. wonder if the teams will be compensated by having their entry fees returned. seems fair

The province has declared a state of emergency, people have been forced to find shelter...so it was the right thing to cancel this year. I’m sure the organizers will make it right with the curlers.

It’s Sunday night now, and from what I’ve just read, Portage is still largely without power, and residents have been to,d to limit water use and not flush their toilets. They’ve got huge transmission lines down all over that area.
I’ve got to think the women’s classic for next weekend is in jeopardy now too.

Tough week for the province and tough break for the club and curlers (got stranded overnight in Portage during the 97 McCain's Skins qualifying spiel when a freak storm closed the highway to Winnipeg. So I can commiserate with how it feels to be stuck somewhere).
Hopefully the tour will step in-as it should-and make sure teams are looked after for their losses.

A good many of these teams have LOTS of sponsorship money and earnings from the slams. I feel for the teams that begged and scraped for money and time off work to make this event one of their "away" spiels to gain experience against the big names and a shot at earning some points and money. They're the ones that get hurt the most. The rest can joke and tweet about getting low on beer and fresh sushi.
