10 second quick irritation from an American.
If I’m going to pay thirty three United States dollars for a second rate streaming service to provide me with questionable streams that are sometimes overdubbed with Blue Jays games, they could at least stop using the Shuster team that Americans would like to watch to advertise the events - when Shuster isn’t invited to take part.
That is all.

Jones looks pretty shaky coming out of the hack. She fishtailed again on one and another which was just a normal weight shot she didn't kick out hard enough and really had to shove it at the end. Knee problems perhaps?

In the mafia-style world that is professional curling, I keep watching team Jones - and wondering when Lawes is going to call in the professional style hit job on JJ the way JJ did on Cathy O…. for Lawes.

And by the way - how flipping fit are team Kim? They just dragged two stones about ten feet and laughed about it.
I’m sitting here drinking my beer, winded watching them.

Jones is a trained lawyer and she's got the upper hand now on Lisa, Dawn, Kaitlyn & Joss - they're under contract and if they break the contract I suspect there's a substantial financial penalty.
So no hits or takeover at sea of the good ship JJ, unless Jones goes against the form chart and calls it a day herself. I doubt that, even fishtailing and swerving out of the hack, she's got a trials spot guaranteed - and doesn't have to duel with the now vastly superior Einarson for the Manitoba spot. By curling a lot - Jones knows how to build points. If she can't beat Fleury and the other sub-Einarson teams to slither out of Manitoba next year - she'll prolly be in line for a wildcard spot.
I just don't see Jones quite good enough to contend for a 7th Scotties title when the ladies game is littered by superior teams skipped by names like Homan, Einarson, Schiedegger, Walker, Fleury, even that new Quebec gal.
This team will disband after this Olympic cycle. Peterman back to AB unless she and Lawes make up a new team.
Both Peterman, and especially Lawes would be 10-15 % higher curlers if they had someone who could call line. Sorry...My bad...my fault....

After watching the Jones game tonight, after they switched from the Homan blowout, it's increasingly obvious she at times has flashes of brilliance, but more of signs of it's time to retire. One of the all time greats, but her time has come, especially to the detriment to the rest of her team. If you can't call line, or can't draw the 4 foot, you can't skip.

How is Chelsea Carey nomadic? She's only moved once as far as I know, from MB to AB, which at the time was arguably just as hard to get out of (even though Sweeting moving from AB to MB did eliminate one provincial rival, but Carey moved from MB to AB independent of that fact).

Nomadic both in a sense of geography but also many different combinations of teams and players throughout the years. I don't know the exact details but she's been to the Scotties 4-5 times, won twice and went to the worlds twice. I'd like to see her get a team together in time for the trials.

I don't know Carey personally, but from all that I've heard from podcasts and interviews, and from what's been happening recently, I think there's higher probability of her joining Team Fleury as a fifth at the Trials and the Olympics than moving to NL.

you know, it’s funny- at her best, Chelsea is the best skip in the world. At her worst, she’s a middling provincial skip.
It’s crazy. She can be SO good. Then…. No idea. I don’t know if it’s a weird toxic relationship between her team and her dad or what- but she never seems to be that disagreeable to me… but when it goes south- woah boy does it go south.
—
As to my completely unfounded Lawes theory.. I know JJ is a lawyer and Kaitlyn is not going anywhere until after they lose the Olympic trials.
—
But all that said, there’s a team of unwanted parts that involves the woman who skipped a win in two of the last four scotties, and one of the greatest leads of all time. It’s gotta be tempting to every really great third curler staring at the two headed Einarson/Homan beast…..

"J.J.. gets her angles wrong." ML
Yes, always has and it certainly doesn't help that she also has very 'poor depth perception', which results in her ability to correctly judge direction as well as the speed of a curling stone in motion.

Not really. That team broke up shortly after winning their fourth successive championship.

Speaking of Fry, maybe I missed it but where is he this week? Another Epping shake up?

Tale of 2 Manitobas.
On the women's side you have 2 teams at 4-0 and in the semis. Jones missed playoffs but the only bonspiel she is really interested in is the Trials in the fall where she will contend I'm sure as will Einarson and Fleury.
On the men's side you have 2 teams a combined 1-7, both top 20 teams but massive gap between them and the top tier teams, neither with a chance to win the Trials.

Watching the quarters, I am impressed by the artwork on the jackets of Kovaleva and Edin. So much more interesting than the boring Canadian jackets. Europeans have always been ahead on the fashion scene.
LIke whose not so brilliant idea was to put a cowboy hat on the uniforms for the brier?

What happened? Who engineered this brilliant feat of bridge construction?
My learned guess is that Koe & Morris made it seem like it was BJ's idea - always pull the wool over the hat with the guy from Brandon, huh?
What did Mike, Joannie & K-Mart have to say about the switcheroo?
Really funny jab at Koe by Jacobs caught on the mic, just after BJ made a great shot, "He's a great player, why isn't he playing third"? Funny? not funny. They must have decided if Johnny MO is going to shoot his face off from the far end for 2nd, 3rd, and skip shots.....save time on the clock to just 3rd and skip shots.

33 minutes to play 8 ends.
John Morris’s mouth made the Koe team use 8 minutes in the first end. Sure would be hard on the nerves to have him as a teammate.
